From a Telegraph article, the following figures even after Labour created a few million non-jobs in the ever growing field of prodnoses are an indication to me that not working is the easy option :
The number of homes in which no one has ever had a job rose sharply from 184,000 in the second quarter of 1997 to 352,000 in the second quarter of 2010, the latest statistics have revealed.
Even with a very conservative estimate of two people per home which is no doubt a complete underestimate given the fact that breeding pays very well in the UK, this is at least 700,000 people who have never worked and probably more like a million or two.
Surprisingly, given the capitals reputation for being the place for jobs in the UK, the figures for London itself are quite shocking and possibly reflect the numbers of people settling here from abroad :
Inner London has the highest number of workless households, at 6.5pc of all homes – three times more than the next highest, which was outer London at 2.2pc.
That is a hell of a lot of people sponging off those of us who actually work for a living and for all the talk of government spending cuts, I don’t see them making much headway here in this parliament or probably the next either.
What a miserable, expensive, nonentity of a country we have become.
