Endeavor space shuttle returns to Earth would have been fine. Endeavor space shuttle makes final landing is OK too and gets across the message in the headline that it won’t be flying again. Even a succinct Endeavor space shuttle lands works for me.
It’s not just the front page teaser that has that either – the main article carries exactly the same title as grabbed below before a sub-ed with half a brain gets to work and makes a few repairs :
It didn’t land on Earth – it landed on a hard surfaced runway….
I don’t think I would want to be the pilot who had to put that thing down onto a dirt strip!
