In a Telegraph article about GPs being paid for telling people that they are fat and referring them to Weight Watchers at tax payers expense there was the following little snippet that got my attention (emphasis mine) :
From next year, GPs will receive a payment for every obese patient they advise to lose weight – on top of money for keeping lists of those who weigh too much.
I wonder what exactly those lists contain and, more to the point, where they end up? It wouldn’t surprise me if there were more of these lists either especially for smokers, drinkers and other people seen as undesirables in the eyes of the Health Nazis.
In fact, taking the latter part of Health Nazis, I seem to remember that they worked on lists of people to be rounded up as well.
Whilst it may be stretching the point currently, give it 10 years and I would not be at all surprised if people on the lists started getting a knock on the door from the community health ambassador or whatever title the Big Society prodnoses end up getting.
