Humans seem to do the strangest things as in this article from The Telegraph which is probably a first in terms of the headline (emphasis mine) :

Portuguese chat show host castrated and beaten to death in New York hotel

A prominent Portuguese journalist has been found castrated and bludgeoned to death in a Manhattan hotel room and his male model companion arrested.

Carlos Castro, 65, from Lisbon was found dead in his room at the InterContinental Hotel in New York’s Times Square on Friday evening.

The celebrity chat show host was visiting the city with 20-year-old Renato Seabra, who shot to fame in his native Portugal after appearing on a television reality show.

Police said the victim suffered serious head trauma and his scrotum had been severed, apparently with a broken wine glass.

Mr Seabra was detained by police within hours of the body being discovered after he sought treatment for wrist wounds at St Luke’s Roosevelt hospital.

Interestingly, you would have thought that someone would have at least heard a bit of argy bargy with that lot going on but it would appear not :

The body was discovered at 7pm on Friday after the wife and daughter of Mr Pires told staff at the hotel they were worried about Mr Castro. They had spoken earlier in the day but alerted hotel staff after he failed to meet them.

Perhaps it is the kind of hotel where a little bedroom racket is not out of place?

As for the reasons, the article does not leave much to go on apart from the following :

He told reporters that the pair had been a couple for several months, but “I think they were a little bit upset with each other, for jealousy reasons.”

I know Latin types are supposed to be a little hot tempered but calling it jealousy related would probably need a revision of the definition of the word itself.
