Spotted in a BBC article on modern photomanipulation, THIS website has a very interesting set of examples of photomanipulation through the ages.

I am particularly impressed with the changes made to older photographs, long before the computer age made it a mouse and click exercise.

The two examples below (taken from the article) show the skill of the old masters with Hitler and prolific history airbrusher Stalin.
