Via Inflation.us, a very good video outlining why the financial crisis is far from over and how the US (and no doubt the rest of us) will probably end up in a full blown currency crisis. The call on Hyperinflation is finely balanced and could just as well be another run at the Great Depression.
If you have an hour to spare sometime, I thoroughly recommend watching (yes it has a little tinfoil hattery but overall is fairly solid).
Some highlights to whet your appetite :
- Nearly 40 million Americans bow receiving food stamps.
- Medicare is costing $408 billion annually.
- Benefit payments in 2010 will be higher than total tax revenue.
- US spending on Military bases and operations tops $1 trillion annually
All of which makes the UK’s and Europe’s debt and spending problems somewhat insignificant in terms of scale.
