Just as I was beginning to wonder why I was being left out of all the fun, I received my first election leaflet today from the serving MP for the Labour party.

It starts off much as I would have imagined :

Don’t let the Tories wreck our future – vote for investment, vote for jobs, vote Labour.

No surprise there I suppose. What did surprise me is that in the whole four A4 pages (in glossy colour with lots of MP doing local thing pictures) there is not one single mention of the budget deficit or National debt. The closest it comes to that is this little gem (emphasis mine) :

Everyone knows that the last eighteen months have not been easy.We have weathered the worst global recession for 60 years, triggered by irresponsible lending by greedy bankers in the City of London.

No mention of Labours spending plans there or the fact that we have pissed money up the wall continuously even during the good times.

Labour is the party of investment.

Erm, no, Labour is the party that borrows heavily and taxes us all to buggery in order to hose money around all over its paid for voters.

The really depressing thing with this leaflet is that I think it will persuade a hell of a lot of people to carry on with Labour as they have no idea of the shitty hole this country is in.

I do hope my MP does some doorstepping as I would really like to have a go at her but if the last few years are anything to go by she wont even show her face.
