Consumer whining.

What is it with this fucking country?

People sign up to a contract without reading the small print and then whine like bitches when they dont want to be held to it.

The case in question here is over fixed price energy contracts. You think the price of gas, for example, is going to go up so you sign a deal to fix your prices for a set period. This protects you from any increases and gives you certainty in terms of what your outgoings will be. At the end of your contract period you can either sign a new deal or go back to variable rates. In all of this, the choice is freely yours and if you decide to enter a fixed price contract then you have to abide by the terms of what you signed up to.

Fair enough you may think but today we have this from the BBC :

Millions of energy customers have been signed up to “unfair” fixed-rate tariffs that do not reflect current prices, a consumer website has warned.

Energyhelpline.com, which compares prices, says customers on certain deals could be losing out on more than £500 a year, as consumer energy prices fall.

It says many customers are locked into contracts they have to pay penalties to get out of.

Where do I start? Well, the headline is misleading in saying “been signed up to” as if it wasn’t the customers own choice. Then we have the “locked into contracts they have to pay penalties to get out of” – what is a contract if you don’t have to follow the rules of that contract?

The fundamental point here is that we have a group of people who thought they were being clever by signing the fixed rate deals and then want to whine and whine and whine when the price falls and they still have to pay their contract price.

Get over it you grasping, mealy mouthed fuckers or, alternatively, use up a few of your expensive units of gas by sticking your head in the oven and do us all a favour!
