Another trawl around US Newspapers and I find that Utah has a local publication called The Richfield Reaper. The Reaper just happens to have a large obituaries section which I found quite fitting given the title.

From there, Edith Durfee sounded quite a spritely old bird :

Edith was a real “go-getter.” She was very strong-willed and never gave up through her illnesses. She battled cancer, two broken hips, broken shoulder, broken foot and ankle, and fought hard to overcome the obstacles.

She also enjoyed hunting and fishing but sadly the obit doesn’t elaborate on the cause of her many injuries. I just hope that they were an accumulated tally from a long life rather than the cancer hospital collapsing on her.
